I am Dr. Kris Nystrom, and my journey in education spans over three decades, encompassing a rich tapestry of experiences in clinical, public school, and university settings. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to reshaping education, with a particular focus on equity in literacy, pedagogy, and curriculum development.

My roles have been as diverse as the settings I've worked in. I've served as a Director of English and Literacy Departments in both small and large school districts. In these positions, I cultivated the power of collective efforts, fostering collaboration among students, faculty, and parents to enhance the effectiveness of our educational programs. It was during these experiences that I truly understood the transformative potential of a collaborative approach.

As a college instructor, I've had the privilege of teaching a range of subjects, from English, Art History, and Humanities, to pre-service English teacher methods. My approach has always been rooted in empowering adults and professionals, guiding them to tap into their existing strengths while acquiring new, adaptive skills. Witnessing their growth and development has been a source of immense fulfillment.

Throughout my journey as a teacher and researcher, my central mission has been to empower traditionally marginalized students and amplify their voices. My research has revolved around the critical issues of equity in literacy, pedagogy, and curriculum development, driving me to advocate tirelessly for inclusive and empowering educational experiences.

In essence, my career has been dedicated to the belief that good instruction, driven by high quality curriculum and held accountable through effective assessment, has the power to transform lives. Educational is a transnational moral imperative. I have seen firsthand how equitable education, innovative pedagogy, and thoughtful curriculum design can make a profound difference.
